Marvin Gaye III Faces Legal Issues
Marvin Gaye III, the eldest son of the Motown icon, has been charged with assault, battery, and false imprisonment.
Lawsuit Details
According to Us Weekly, a lawsuit was filed against Gaye on December 26 in Los Angeles. A woman identified as Jane Doe claims she was summoned to Gaye’s residence in January 2023 to mediate a dispute between him and his then-wife, Wendy.
Court documents reveal that the situation “escalated into a series of acts of violence and threats committed by (Gaye), including physical violence, verbal death threats, and the removal of a firearm, which he aimed at (the alleged victim) and his wife while threatening their lives.”
Gaye has denied the allegations, stating: “There is no way this happened. This is all nonsense. I wouldn’t do this. These are false statements.” He further claims to know the identity of the accuser and alleges that she is “trying to extort money from me.”
Jane Doe alleges that Gaye, 59, grabbed her arms, shook her, and stomped on her foot before pointing a gun at her and Wendy, threatening to kill them both. The accuser describes his conduct as “dangerous,” “extreme, outrageous, and beyond the bounds of decency.”
Further Allegations and Impact
Gaye is also accused of “acts of intimidation,” such as “tampering with (her) vehicle by disabling the brakes and arranging surveillance of (her) home for his accomplices.”
The woman is suing for an undisclosed amount in damages, attorney fees, and a restraining order, claiming severe emotional distress, including anxiety, depression, panic attacks, insomnia, and a loss of 24 to 30 pounds.
Gaye is the adopted son of Marvin Gaye and his first wife, Anna Gordy, and his biological mother is Denise Gordy, Anna’s niece. He became co-executor of his father’s estate at the age of 18 in 1984.
