About The Track
This track serves as the final preview of the upcoming album by the artist, who is also the creator of “TE WHARE THICAVEKAWEKA”, which will be his first studio album recorded exclusively in Māori.
For this single, the collaboration with the Lord Yelich-O’Connor is described as an “ode to a colorful yet gloomy wormhole of life’s journey,” reflecting on the friends made and lost along the way.
“Kāhore He Manu was born out of gentle labor. It came together effortlessly from the beginning. It was clear who should lend their voice; Ella’s singing truly shaped the song,” Williams remarked.
“Her distinct and remarkable vocal qualities bring the melody to life in a way only she could. Singing alongside Ella is a remarkable experience; the depth she brings to each performance is astounding. We connected over our shared highs and lows in the world of touring, making this song a tribute to the colorful yet somber realities of life on the road, and the friendships formed and lost in the haze.”

Collaboration Insights
Speaking about their collaboration, the Lord expressed the inspiration she felt while listening to Williams’s work, calling their partnership “one of my favorite things to do on Earth.”
“For several years, I observed how Marlon meticulously crafted ‘TE WHARE THIPAKAWEKA’. With each step he took in creating the album, I witnessed him delve deeper into understanding himself, his roots, and his identity,” she shared.
“Marlon is a perfectionist, dedicated to his craft, leaving no stone unturned as he creates a complex tapestry that narrates the past, infused with his signature humor and keen insight.”
“Performing with Marlon is one of my greatest joys, whether backstage or in the studio. It has been an incredible honor for me to collaborate with him on this album. I am immensely proud of my friend.”

The album was inspired by the challenges Williams faced while writing in English, prompting his decision to return to his ancestral language.
“Although this transition was not without its struggles, it unlocked new avenues of self-expression and felt like an important act of reclamation,” reads the LP description.
The album has been in the making for five years, during which he reconnected with family, friends, and his hometown of Littleon. It is slated for release on April 4. Visit here to pre-order and read more about the upcoming documentary preview.
In other news, the Lord made headlines last September when Chappell Roan revealed that she received a list of coping strategies from the singer regarding the pressures of fame.
Prior to that, the Lord generated buzz among fans by wiping all her social media accounts, leading many to speculate that she would be announcing new music soon.
