New Label Announcement
Anthony Gonzalez from M83 has launched a new label, “Other Suns,” where he will release the soundtrack “The Necessary Escape.”

Soundtrack Release Details
The label’s inaugural release is Gonzalez’s own soundtrack for the upcoming film Dakar: Race Against the Desert. Both the film and soundtrack are set to be released on May 9.
The film’s synopsis states: “8,549 kilometers. The test follows legends like Sebastien Loeb and rising stars such as Mason Klein, capturing the thrilling battle against the elements, each other, and the indomitable heritage of Dakar.”

Supporting New Artists
Other Suns will not only serve as the new home for M83 but will also be a platform for emerging artists. Gonzalez has signed Kaela, who will release her debut album “Supraliminal” on May 16, and Villeneuve, who will drop the new Soul Tuning album on May 30.
According to the press release, the label is “passionate about the tangible, long-term presence of vinyl and its significance in a hyper-transition world.”
Earlier this year, M83 released the album Fantasy. In a three-star review, NME stated: “Although he may have deliberately distanced himself from commercialism, the songs on this latest M83 album remain sweet, fabulous, and entirely welcoming. The illuminated sounds of Shoegaze from the ’80s, alongside tracks like ‘World World Worlds,’ ‘Sound,’ and ‘Family Music’ are designed to inspire.”
The review added: “Despite Gonzalez’s efforts to move away from mainstream success, his status as a cult hero appears secure. His knack for catchy melodies—whether intentional or not—remains undeniable.”
