New Friendship Helps Overcome Challenges
Lucy Dusk shared how her “new friendship” with Chappell Roan helped her to pass a bad week.
Supporting Each Other Through Tough Times
In a new interview with People’s magazine, Singer Boygenus revealed that she and her colleagues in the group Julien Baker and Fibi Bridgers recently formed stronger bonds with Roan after she spoke publicly about the “strange” and “terrible behavior” of some fans.
“When (Chappell) was feeling really down, we all supported her in Boygenus and told her that it’s tough when everyone has something to say about you,” said Dusk.
She went on to explain that Roan reciprocated the support, stating, “I had a rough week a couple of weeks ago, where the release of music felt overwhelming, and it made me wonder if I should just step away from my life as an artist. She was just like, ‘No, what you do is important, and it helps many people feel less alone.’”
Dusk added that “Good luck, baby!” The singer also sent her flowers. “I am just grateful for making a new friend with such a good heart.”
Dusk mentioned that she and Roan often exchange thoughts on how “when people hate you, they don’t really know you.”
“On the flip side, when they love you, they don’t know you either,” Dusk pointed out. “So it’s important to protect yourself from hate, but also not let other people’s love fill the void left by true love in your life.”
“They might understand you, but they truly don’t know who you are as a person,” she added.
Upcoming Album and Tour
These comments come as Dusk prepares for her fourth studio album “Forever Is a Feeling”, scheduled to release on March 28 through Polydor/Geffen (Pre-order here).
Thus far, four singles from the LP have been released: “Conversation,” “Ankles,” and “Limitation,” which all came out in January, along with “The Best Assumption” from last month. Dusk has recently unveiled the complete tracklist of 13 songs for “Forever Is a Feeling,” accompanied by individual illustrations from Nicole Jacqueline Smith.
Among the 10 remaining tracks that fans have yet to hear are “Calliope Prelude,” “Modigliani,” the title track “Forever Is a Feeling,” “The Most Wanted Person,” and “Lost Time.” Hozier is also featured on the album, specifically on the track “Bullseye.”
Although Hozier is the only featured guest so far, earlier reports indicated that the record might also include contributions from Blake Mills, Bartis Strange, Madison Cunningham, Collin Pastore, Jake Finch, and Melin Duters. Reports suggest that Boygenius’ Bridgers and Baker will also appear on the album.
Dusk announced a UK and European tour this summer, which includes a performance at the A2 Academy Brixton on June 26 and a slot at the Glastonbury Festival 2025. The artist is also set to appear at Formy Farm on Saturday, June 28.
On Monday, June 30, she will continue her UK tour with a concert at the Edinburgh Usher Hall, followed by performances at the Manchester Academy on July 2 and Dublin’s Iveagh Gardens on July 3. Dusk is also scheduled to play a festival in Denmark on July 5 at Roskilde. Tickets for these new dates are now available for purchase – you can get yours here.
These dates will follow two intimate concerts at the Sir John Soane Museum in London this month as part of her tour “An Evening with Lucy Dacus.” She has also announced several smaller shows across the United States, alongside a broader North American tour this spring (find remaining tickets here).
As for Roan, earlier this month, she released her new country-pop album Saturday Evening on the Air last November.
