Lucy Dacus Reflects on Boygenius Ending at the Perfect Time After Surpassing All Expectations

Lucy Dacus on Boygen’s Break

Lucy Dacus shared her thoughts on the hiatus of Boygen, noting that the group’s success was “immediately ahead of our expectations.”

Achievements and New Projects

The group, which includes Dacus, Phoebe Bridgers, and Julien Baker, has produced its debut album “The Record” along with two EPs, including the 2018 release and “The Stold” in 2023. Their accolades encompass three Grammy Awards for Best Alternative Music Album, Best Rock Song, and Best Rock Performance, in addition to a Brit Award for International Group of the Year in 2024.

In a conversation with A resident of New York about her forthcoming solo project “Forever is a feeling”, Dacus elaborated on how the group took precedence over her solo career, stating: “We had these big goals of putting on incredible shows.”

She continued, “This is what we discussed and worked toward.”

Dacus also mentioned that the choice to pause the project was made prior to the release of “The Record.” “We always said, ‘One year,’” she shared. “Let’s protect our friendship, let’s safeguard our energy, and let’s not drain each other to save it for others.”

Currently, Dacus is focused on her fourth studio album “Forever Is a Sense”, which features collaboration with Hozier. The album will include previously released singles such as “Talk,” “Ankles,” “Limeraence,” and “Best Hall.”
