New Album Announcement
Lucius has announced their upcoming fourth album, which is set to be released on May 2 through Fantasy Records. This record features the previously released track “Old Tape” along with the new single “Gold Rush.”
Collaboration and Themes
The album, created by Dan Molad from the group, includes collaborations with Drug War’s Adam Granduciel, Daw Taylor Goldsmith, Madison Cunningham, Luke Temple, and Rob Mus.
“Our fourth studio album is significant, just as it was when we began as a group,” Lucius explains. “It is raw and honest and feels like a return home; something that deeply resonates with us at this moment in our lives. We feel at home in many ways; over the past couple of years, we’ve begun to establish roots, seek partners in life, build families, and create gardens. We have dogs (you can hear them in the background if you listen closely). We wrote songs about life and relationships and recorded them in our home studios. We witnessed the beginnings and ends of life cycles, capturing the beauty and fragility of the human experience in this record. Therefore, it’s only fitting that this album shares our name and reflects our journey to this point. Welcome to our living room.”
Regarding their new single, the group shares: “’Gold Fever’ captures the addictive sweetness of love. It’s about the highs and lows of the American dream. It’s that sentiment of feeling an overwhelming desire for someone, unable to live without them, yet afraid of losing them. The energy is palpable, with guitars crying out, a heavy backdrop, and dynamic vocals that shift from soft to powerful, mirroring the essence of the lyrics.”
The album’s tracklist includes “Final Days,” “Gold Fever,” “Make Everything for You,” “Crazy Love,” “Famous Danger,” “Hallway,” “Old Cassette,” “Borderline,” “Orange Blossoms,” and “At the End of the Day.”
