Wirgin, New Zealand, the singer revealed the recording news last night (April 30) and confirmed its arrival on June 27 via the republic.
Album Details and Artwork
This release will mark her first album since 2021’s “Solar Power,” and was previously hinted at with the nostalgic lead single “What It Was.” The news about the record was initially shared by Lord through a text explosion for fans, which simply stated the word “Virgin” and included a link to her website, where an official announcement was made.
On the website, Lord also showcased the album’s cover art, featuring a blue-tinted X-ray image of a female crotch, along with a zipper and a visible navy belt. It’s no surprise that this choice has sparked discussions online, with many fans speculating about the intended symbolism.
Symbolism and Fan Reactions
“The new album by Lord is a transparent view of her femininity, and the title connects to societal structures associated with femininity,” wrote one user on X/Twitter, adding, “The album cover features an X-ray of a woman’s reproductive organs while dressed… regarding symbolism.”
Another user shared: “It feels so symbolic to me, expressing the unintentional loss of innocence and how women should be prepared for such experiences, along with the surrounding sadness.”
“Raw, honest, alarming, and strange,” a third commenter noted. “She seeks to protect her femininity through the use of lighting, belts, and layers, yet remains completely transparent—her navy is visible. A masterpiece. This cover is my favorite. I couldn’t love this woman more. I was too overwhelmed yesterday to even respond.”

Raw, honest, alarming, and strange. She attempts to protect her femininity with lighting, belts, and layers, yet remains completely transparent. Even her navy is visible. A masterpiece. My favorite album cover. I couldn’t love this woman any more. I was too shocked yesterday to react.

When Lord shared the news, she stated: “This album is produced by me and Jim-Stek.” She further mentioned that Fabiana Palladino, Andrew AGD, Buddy Ross, Dan Nigro, and Devonté Hynes from Blood Orange contributed, and it was “written 100% in the blood.”
In a separate email to fans, she added: “The color of the album is clear. Like a bath, windows, ice—complete transparency. The language is simple and unpretentious.”
“I aimed to create a document reflecting my femininity: raw, primal, innocent, elegant, open, spiritual, a mask. I am both proud and fearful of this album. There’s nowhere to hide. I believe that connecting ourselves to music liberates us.”
Regarding the last single, Lord previously teased fans with a song at Washington Square in NYC last week and shared a voice note hinting at a new era. Since then, the singer has indicated that she was influenced by Charlie XCX for this record.
