Lola Young: “People claim I’m not ‘little’ just because my cousin wrote The Gruffalo. Honestly, what nonsense is that?”

Lola Young Addresses Industry Speculation

Lola Young recently discussed the speculation surrounding her background and connections within the industry in an interview with Capital Buzz.

Response to Industry Plant Accusations

The singer-songwriter responded to comments regarding her relationship with Groffalo, the popular character created by her cousin Julia Donaldson. “People claim I am favorably positioned because my great aunt wrote ‘Gruffalo.’ Honestly, what nonsense is that? I have so much to contribute that it’s overwhelming. But let me be clear: I am not an industry plant, and I’ve said this before.”

Young elaborated on the notion of industry plants, stating: “The term ‘industry plant’ is often used by artists and individuals who are simply confused about their own careers and feel threatened by someone else’s success. If you were truly an industry plant, you would not enjoy prolonged success. It’s unfortunate when talent gets overlooked.”
