About the New EP

The new EP continues the journey from their last full-length release, marking the fourth number one album in the UK for the Audio Vertigo group, which was unveiled last spring.

Titled “Audio Vertigo Echo EPK EP 5,” the release is scheduled to arrive on June 6, featuring the previously released “Adriana Again” alongside three brand new tracks, the first of which is “Sober,” released today.

Starting with a disco-heavy groove, “Sober” showcases Elbow’s expanded sound palette, offering something distinct from their past works while still retaining their signature identity. Notably, this track features collaboration with drummer Al Reeves.

Other tracks include “Dis-Graceland 463-465 Bury New Road,” named after the former residence of “A Rarely Found Child,” Brian Glancie, celebrating Manchester’s rich musical heritage. “Timber” alludes to past moments, while “Adriana Again” reflects on the mythologizing of relationships and friendships.

In a recent statement, the frontman described the EP as “a conclusion of sorts for the group in many respects.”

“We find more joy in the studio than before. Craig (Potter) as a producer, Pete (Turner, bassist), and Alex (Reeves, drummer) form the best rhythm section, creating a dynamic experience,” he added.

“All the lyrics recount stories from my past; some joyful, often dark, but always thrilling and mostly true. It feels like we’re on to another chapter,”

Future Plans

In November 2024, the single “Adrian Again” will draw inspiration from the black subculture, according to NME, hinting at what fans can expect from the upcoming EP.

“We believed that settling in another Vienna on this record would allow us to gain new insights,” he mentioned. “It’s also a reminder of the album we released back in March!”

“Adrian is a fictional character but is inspired by several real-life experiences,” he shared about the single. “The verses evoke a dark atmosphere driven by Pete’s bass – it reminded me of the time I was mostly underground in the convenience culture of Manchester.”

Garvey elaborated, “Similar to the rest of the album, I reflect on events from many years ago rather than writing about my garden or praising my son’s achievements.”

The album “Audio Vertigo” received a four-star review from NME, hailed as “their best since the time of ‘A Rarely Found Child’.”

“I’ve lived with the vinyl test pressing of ‘Audio Vertigo’ for several months, and I assure you it’s a record meant to be enjoyed in its entirety,” he stated. “Audio Vertigo is their best record in years and will resonate powerfully this summer across various arenas.”

This summer, the band is set to perform at several festivals and has also disclosed plans for major open-air dates. The members have confirmed their collaboration with Co-Op Live Arena in Manchester to support sound equipment donations in the city. Visit here to purchase tickets for their upcoming shows.
