Recent Developments

Mayland first teased the new project last week when they shared a newsletter and hinted at “updates” for their subscribers.

Ebigail Morris, another member of the Mayland group, recently featured BC CampLight “two-legged dogs” on the new single while the last party collectively enjoyed a successful 2025.

After the success of their debut album “Prelude to Ecstasy,” released in February 2024, which became the largest first debut album in the UK in nine years, the group won the best new performer award at the Brit Awards this year.

This award adds to their collection following their Rising Star Brit and BBC Sound victories in 2024. In their acceptance speech, they celebrated the vital role of independent venues in the UK’s music scene, stating: “We would not be a group, and many artists here would also not be groups, without incredible independent places in Great Britain. They are the vital force of the music industry, and they’re fading.”

Additionally, they mentioned to NME that their second album is already in the works and discussed the mental health challenges faced by artists. “Planning your year with boundaries is crucial,” said Davis. “You must place your well-being first. If you do not prioritize that, everything else may fall apart. Set your expectations based on your physical and mental limitations.”

“We hope that others learn from this experience, as we have gained valuable lessons from having to cancel shows, and we wish for the industry as a whole to absorb some of this.”

In a four-star review of “Prelude to Ecstasy,” NME described it as “bright, funny, and completely excellent,” adding: “Some may see the group’s success as a reclamation narrative from their early career struggles with self-image and the intent behind their music. But underneath it all, you still have fantastic songs that are approachable and relatable.”
