Concert Experience and Life-Changing Albums
The singer and guitarist discussed her life in an interview with the publication Guitarist, naming 10 albums that significantly impacted her life. Among her selections was Tool’s 2001 alt-metal classic “Lateralus,” which led her to reminisce about the aforementioned incident.
Reflecting on her younger brother Arejay, now the drummer of Halestorm, she shared: “I had a shitty job as a waitress, and I bought us tickets to see Tool in Hershey Park. I was so excited.”
“Then Arejay did something that angered our parents, and they wouldn’t let him leave. I thought, ‘Okay, this could be an opportunity to ask someone out,’ so I did. I asked this guy Nate, and he said, ‘Yeah.’ I was like, ‘Nice!’ We didn’t have good seats, but it didn’t matter – the show was amazing. I sang every word.”
However, the moment turned out to be too good to be true. “Halfway through, I looked at my companion and saw that he had fallen asleep – for me, this was a real deal breaker!” she joked. “So Tool’s Lateralus changed lives in some strange way. My brother still teases me about this: ‘I wouldn’t sleep.’”
