Wildfires Devastate Los Angeles
Catastrophic wildfires ignited on January 7, compelling over 150,000 Los Angeles residents to evacuate their homes. At the time of this report, there have been 27 confirmed deaths, with more than 20 individuals still unaccounted for.
To aid members of the music community affected by these events, the Crew Nation Global Relief Fund is providing financial assistance to performers, live music crews, and industry workers.
Founded by Live Nation Entertainment in 2020 during the pandemic pause of live music, Crew Nation has devoted five years to supporting those in the music sector facing unexpected struggles. To date, over 16,000 team members have received assistance, with Live Nation contributing $10 million (£8.13 million) and an additional $8 million from artists, fans, and industry partners.
Grants for Those Impacted
In response to the bushfires, financial grants have been organized to assist individuals currently involved in the industry who are facing displacement costs due to evacuation orders, damage, or losses. Eligible applicants can seek grants of up to $5,000 (£4,066).
“Los Angeles is home to so many people who help make live music possible,” stated Michael Rapino, President and CEO of Live Nation Entertainment. “Crew Nation continues its core mission of supporting this hardworking community in overcoming unforeseen challenges.” You can apply here for Crew Nation Fund grants.
In addition to Crew Nation’s efforts, Live Nation is also actively assisting those impacted by natural disasters. The company is providing direct aid to employees at its Los Angeles headquarters through its Self-care program.
Furthermore, the company is promoting the upcoming FireAid show, a benefit concert scheduled for next Thursday (Jan. 30) that aims to raise funds for community rebuilding and fire prevention initiatives.
Many artists are joining the cause to help communities affected by the fires.
A variety of musicians will take the stage at the event, including Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, Stevie Nicks, Green Day, and more. You can view the current lineup here.

Since the fires broke out, many influential figures within the music industry have taken steps to assist those affected. For instance, Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD foundation has donated $2.5 million to support victims. Paris Hilton has also established a fund for families displaced by the fires, donating $100,000 and promising an additional $100,000 in donations.
Dave Grohl celebrated his birthday last week by preparing meals for affected families, while the Canadian metal band Spiritbox organized a charity raffle to raise funds for those in need.
In another effort, the Mexican-American band Fuerza Regida rented an entire hotel for a week to shelter 50 families impacted by the fires. Members of the Los Angeles music community have recently spoken to NME, discussing the severe impact and detailing the number of venues, studios, and artists affected by the disaster.
