Little Simz Sues Producer, Accumulates Over £1.7 Million.

Little Simz’s Lawsuit Overview

Little Simz has taken legal action against a producer over a disputed loan amounting to 1.7 million pounds.

Details of the Lawsuit

The British rapper, whose real name is Simbiatu Ajikawo, filed the lawsuit in January, alleging that the producer failed to repay loans for over a year and could not provide an accurate account of the recording costs with Sony.

Ploto, known as Dean Cover, was involved in producing Simz’s albums “Grey Area” (2019), “Sometimes I Can Be an Introvert” (2021), and “No, Thank You” (2022). Their professional relationship dates back to when he managed an Originals Ltd.

The legal filing outlines several loans, including a significant sum of 600,000 pounds transferred to the Forever Living Originals bank account for recording. Additionally, Simz allocated 1 million pounds to finance the academic performance of Sault’s Drumsheds in London, along with subsequent loans of 200,000 pounds each in December 2023. It is reported that the loan linked to the drummers is set to be repaid by early December.

The lawsuit states that Simz anticipated the return of any unused recording funds once the album was completed. In October, Ploto’s solicitors provided documentation related to the recording costs, totaling approximately 525,000 pounds.

Reports indicate that the failure to reimburse these loans has adversely affected Simz’s ability to meet tax obligations, resulting in additional interest payments.

While Ploto has yet to seek protection, his legal representatives acknowledged the debt in October, arguing that the responsibility lies with the Forever Living Originals and not Ploto personally.
