The sports team shared a sneak peek of its upcoming third album with the release of “Perhaps When We Are 30” – check it out below.
Upcoming Album Details
The Cambridge indie group will release “boys these days” on May 23 through Distiller Records/Bright Antenna. You can pre-order the album here. Previously, they released the singles “I Am In Love (Subaru)”, “Condensation”, and “Bang Bang”.
Now, they are back with the reflective track: “Maybe When We Are 30”, which offers a sardonic take on the concept of settling down as you age and witnessing the transformation of your social circles. Watch the video directed by the group here:

Song Inspiration
Explaining the inspiration behind the song, group member Rob Knaggs stated: “This is a song for Brooklyn Beckham. When you start in the group, you feel like Slurms Mackenzie (the party slug from Futurama). You can’t believe that your job is to travel the world, drink beer, and create music with your friends.”
“And then one morning, you look around, and all your friends are getting married, and you start to think, perhaps what I really want is to grow old, get a dog, and write terrible things about Brooklyn Beckham on Facebook, go on cruises, and have petty disputes with my neighbors about whether the garden is maintained.”
Concert Series Announcement
The group also announced a series of in-store concerts around the album’s release. Tickets are already on sale and can be purchased at participating stores or on the group’s website here.

“Boys These Days” is set to follow “GULP!” from 2022, which NME awarded four stars, describing it as “a daring, confident record that mixes the chaotic energy of a sports team with a smart, sincere understanding of the power of guitar music.”
“Through it all, the sports team is just trying to have a good time. This is a valid sentiment in today’s world, whether during a live show or in their overall spirit: ‘GULP!’ shows that the group continues to build something worth believing in.”
They are also scheduled to perform at the BBC 6 Music Festival next month, as well as at Live At Leeds and Truck Festival, and will open for Supergrass in Halifax this August.
