Listen to St. Vincent’s New Pulsating Single “DOA” from “Death of the Unicorn”

New Music from Saint-Vincent

Saint-Vincent has unveiled a new single featured in the upcoming black comedy The Death of a Unicorn, starring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega in the lead roles.

Soundtrack Release and Latest Tracks

An ominous synthesizer track will debut on the soundtrack for the new A24 film, which hit theaters in the USA today (March 28) and in the UK on April 4.

Along with the film’s release, Saint-Vincent shared “DOA,” a high-energy track brimming with guitar riffs reminiscent of Prince, layered with distorted vocals and pulsating basslines.

In the song, she moves away from the heavier, noise elements of her 2024 album All Born Screaming and embraces a more dance-focused sound. “Directly, as I stopped miracles/in the unicorn comes right in front” is a lyric where Saint-Vincent, whose real name is Annie Clark, reflects on the song. “Oh, you’re wild, but a child, you have to run next to me/You are ecstasy in the center of the whole world.”

Film and Tour Updates

The film follows the misadventures of a father-son duo, played by Rudd and Ortega, who accidentally strike and kill a unicorn during a weekend getaway. The comedy features an ensemble cast including Richard E. Grant, Téa Leoni, Will Poulter, Anthony Carrigan, Sunita Mani, Jessica Hines, and Steve Park. The trailer for the film was released in December of last year.

Saint-Vincent’s involvement comes shortly after she announced a new set of tour dates across the UK and Europe. This leg of the tour, titled “All Born Screaming,” aligns with her album released in April last year. The complete list of dates can be found here.

NME reviewed Saint-Vincent’s performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall in June of last year, giving it a four-star rating: “During the 90-minute set, Clark wielded her guitar like a weapon and attacked the microphone with restless urgency.”

“Breathtaking, cathartic crescendos danced on the edge of chaos, but Clark and her four-piece band never allowed things to fall apart. It was a remarkable performance that demanded engagement from the audience. This music is electric and cannot be ignored.”

In another four-star review, this time for the album All Born Screaming, NME remarked: “The album’s opening tracks break and shatter – originating from a place of deep loss. And then something unusual occurs. The themes entwine, and she becomes compelled to push through the ‘secret door.’”
