Lisa of Blackpink Shares That Listening to “White Lotus” Was a Challenge

Blackpink member Lisa spoke about the process of listening to her debut role in the last season White Lotus.

Lisa Blackpink recently talked with Wrapper about her role in the recently released third season White Lotus, which also noted her little debut on the screen. She mentioned that her participation in the popular series was related to her desire to “switch to a new chapter in my life.”

Audition process and decision

“White Lotus presented an opportunity, and (I) said: ‘Why not just try?’” she told Wrapper. “I am a big fan of White Lotus already – I needed to try, even if I did not understand.”

According to reports, Lisa’s name was mentioned by the co-producer and director during a casting call in Thailand. Executive producer Dave Bernad recalled that he and creator Mike White were not familiar with Blackpink or Lisa at that time: “We treated it as we would with any other casting.”

Lisa spoke about submitting a video audition and receiving a call back, leading to her in-person audition with Mike White. “They called me to let me know I got the role,” the musician recalled. “It was not easy.”

Bernad also shared that there was some “nervousness” among the production team regarding whether casting Lisa would create any distractions. He noted, “(Is there) a certain expectation from her point of view as an international pop star?”

However, these concerns were ultimately dispelled. “She could not be more down-to-earth as a person… Her approach to this was as professional and as committed as everyone else,” he concluded.

Lisa continued to share that “the acting game is like a new world for me,” adding that she “did not know what to expect on the set” of the series. “There are a lot of close-up shots (and) different angles, and I have to do the same. I thought: ‘This is madness,’ but I really had fun while shooting,” she stated.

On the music front, Lisa recently released a new single in collaboration with Doja Cat and Raye titled “Born Alight,” marking the fourth track from her upcoming debut solo album “Alter Ego,” which is set to release in full on February 28.
