Lisa of Blackpink Reflects on Personal Growth in Her Solo Album “Alter Ego”

Lisa’s Journey of Self-Discovery

Lisa Blackpink discussed the initial uncertainty she experienced while creating her debut solo album “Alter Ego,” highlighting her naturally reserved personality.

Going Independent

The K-POP idol spoke to the Wall Street Journal about her decision to pursue an independent solo career. “I am a shy girl inside,” Lisa explained. “In Blackpink, we each have a position. But if I don’t do this now, when am I going to do this?”

Lisa emphasized that her former Blackpink groupmates provided critical support during this transition. “We always discussed it: ‘How do you feel?’ ‘I feel the same.’ We spent three, four years training here – are you just going to go out and do something else? I don’t think you want that,” she shared. The group keeps in regular contact, and Lisa remarked, “I am so lucky to have them. After I perform at a VMA or a big show, they always reach out to me.”
