Album Details and Reception

The album, which debuted in November, marked the band’s first release since the passing of frontman Chester Bennington and featured Dead Sara’s Emily Armstrong in the role of the new vocalist.

Before its launch, the band released several singles such as “Heavy Is The Crown,” “The Emptiness Machine,” “Over Each Other,” and “Casualty.” They also kicked off a series of live performances to promote the new tracks.

Mike Shinoda discussed the “culture” of Linkin Park’s new lineup, claiming it was “the best thing we’ve ever had.” While some fans were split over Bennington’s successor, Shinoda clarified that the decision “is not aimed at erasing the past.”

Recently, the band confirmed that a new a cappella version of the album will be available soon. The fresh edition, titled “From Zero – A Capellas,” is scheduled for release tomorrow (Friday, January 24).

Chart Performance and Upcoming Tour

The original album achieved significant success, topping the charts in ten countries including the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Holland, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Australia, and New Zealand. In the US, it narrowly missed the number one spot, debuting at number two behind K-pop group Ateez’s Golden Hour: Part.2.

From Zero garnered a three-star review from NME, which described the record as “an intriguing mixture of sensational, mind-numbing stadium rock and incredibly tedious songwriting.”

“It’s important to note that From Zero should be seen as a reboot, as reflected in its title, which pays tribute to the band’s former name: Xero. Thus, any comparisons to their largely masterful discography must consider the context from which From Zero emerged: the genuine desire of Brad Delson, Dave Farrell, Joe Hahn, and Shinoda to collaborate once more as Linkin Park,” the review stated.

“The global rock scene is undoubtedly enriched by Linkin Park’s presence, and the standout moments on From Zero – despite its imperfections – affirm this notion.”

Later this year, the band is set to embark on an extensive 2025 world tour, with a performance planned at London’s Wembley Stadium. Special guests for the event will include Queens of the Stone Age, Spiritbox, AFI, Architects, Grandson, Jean Dawson, JPEGMAFIA, and PVRIS. In addition to Armstrong, drummer Colin Brittain will join the lineup for the upcoming tour following the departure of founding member Rob Bourdon, and guitarist Alex Feder will take over for Brad Delson during live shows.

Explaining his decision not to tour, Delson recently stated: “For me, and likely everyone else, the past few years have allowed us to deeply reflect on the band – considering what drives us, where we feel most fulfilled, and where we truly thrive.

“It wasn’t about returning to our previous ways. It was more about utilizing our experiences to approach our roles with greater self-awareness and insight. I really thrive in the studio. I love creating something new. That’s why I decided to concentrate my efforts in that direction.”
