Lily Allen Responds to Katy Perry’s Space Flight Criticism: “It Stemmed from My Own Internalized Femininity”

Lily Allen Reflects on Comments About Katy Perry

Lily Allen reflected on the “vile” comments that she made about Katy Perry’s space flight, stating that they stem from “internalized femininity”.

Space Flight Controversy

Earlier this month, Space Tourism Company, founded by Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, sent the singer “et” to space along with a team composed of influential women, including television host Gail King, film producer Kerianna Flynn, scientist Amanda Nguyen, entrepreneur Aisha Bow, and author Loren Sayinchez.

The trip faced harsh criticism, with actress Olivia Munn branding Perry “glue” and Emily Ratajkowski mentioning she was also “averted” from space flight. Allen condemned the mission as “outside,” asserting that “there is no reason” for it.

Now, the “Smile” singer has revisited her earlier statements and apologized to Perry during her latest episode of the Miss me? podcast. “I would actually like to apologize for the fact that last week I was angry about Katy Perry,” she told co-host Miquita Oliver, as reported by Billboard.

“In fact, I did not need to introduce her name into it, and it was my own internalized issues,” Allen added.

“I thought a lot about it, and it was absolutely unnecessary to accumulate negativity towards her. I do not agree with what they did, but she was not the only person involved. She might have been the most famous, but many others were part of it as well.”

Katy Perry’s Recent Challenges

Recently, Perry became a target of viral memes on social media after fans mocked her choreography during her “Life” tour, which started in Mexico City last week. One spectator commented, “Doing so much, but nothing at the same time,” while another quipped: “What’s in Star Wars?”

“It seemed so lifeless and apathetic for a premiere night… It feels like she’s over it,” said one unimpressed viewer, while another posted, “It looks like a backstage video before they added CGI.”

The beginning of the tour followed the singer’s announcement of the cancellation of two shows in Guadalajara back in May, as the venue was not ready in time.

Later this year, the “Firework” singer plans to tour the UK and Europe – check out the full list of dates and get tickets here.
