Lids Seeks New Premises After Closure Announcement, Launches Crowdfunder to Fuel Expansion

Leeds Venue Boom Launches Crowdfunder

Leeds Venue Boom has initiated a Crowdfunder following a search for new premises. This comes after their announcement in November last year indicating they were “forced” to close in March this year.

Lease Termination and Future Plans

Previously, it was reported that their landlord opted to terminate the lease to begin conversion of the building into apartments and shops.

However, in an update on January 29, it seems that the venue is making progress and is in need of community support.

“Before Christmas, we made an official proposal to take the building on the outskirts of the city of Leeds,” they shared. This new venue, which they emphasize is larger than their current site on Millwright Street, will be established as a Community Interest Company (CIC) focused on providing various social spaces and initiatives, including rehearsal areas, a recording studio, educational programs, and food & beverage options.

“We intend to safeguard everything we have built over the past decade, including the scenes and communities that utilize our spaces, the groups and events we collaborate with, and all associated ventures,” they added.
