Artists Share Their Sources of Inspiration

Arriving this morning (April 22), the map allocates many areas throughout the British Islands, which the artists called some of their favorite sources of inspiration.

This happens as part of the WWF X MDE cooperation, which was done in the celebration of the Earth’s hour in March. Various artists have already taken part in the annual WWF initiative, making playlists as part of the reason.

Including contributions from Libertines, Guy Elbow Garvey, former NME Covering the stars Hotwax, Pogues, and many others, the map includes nods to a mixture of natural spaces, cities, and villages. It also varies from the Shetland Islands of Shetland to Malpas, Cornwall, showing how the world of nature plays a huge role in inspiring the creative process for the talent of Great Britain.

For Guy Garvey, he watched deadlines, Hanets, and storm gusts on the islands of the Shetland Islands, which served as inspiration. “It was summer, and the memories of the infinite day and these fairy-tale creatures connected me with the world in a really significant way,” he said. “To think that this life continues all the time is a great feeling. And I love birds. That is why they are one way or another on every Elbow record.”

For Alfie Sayers from Hotwax, it was a beach in his hometown Shoreham. “I grew up surfing and free immersion and always take my waterproof MP3 player. Listening to music in the water combines the things that I love and inspires my musicality,” he said.

The Connection Between Music and Nature

“Music has a magical way to bring us closer to nature. It stirs our emotions, recalls memories, and helps us feel connected with the outside world. It is no surprise that some of the best musicians in Great Britain found inspiration and solace in the beauty of our landscapes and changing seasons,” said Holly McKinley, director of strategic communications and brand at WWF-UK.

Lewis Jamison, CEO of Music, stated that the emergency added, “Sounds of nature are the building blocks of our music, and the natural world fills our music with both inspiration and echo. By exploring how place plays a central role in their art, our artists remind us of what the natural world gives us and the importance of giving back.”

As for Elbow, last month the group came together with Co-Op Live Arena in Manchester to help fund sound equipment in urban areas. News about partnerships surfaced almost a year after the Britpop group performed as the first act on the site in May last year.
