This controversy arose following Ticketmaster’s decision to cancel numerous tickets due to their ongoing crackdown on bots and reselling practices.
Tickets for the British shows went on sale in August, and despite efforts to curb resale prices, around 50,000 tickets appeared on resale markets. In response, promoters Live Nation and SJM announced that all tickets sold through secondary sites other than Twickets would be canceled and reissued through Ticketmaster at their original price.
However, the process faced significant hurdles, leading to complaints on social media from fans who claimed their legally purchased tickets were canceled illegally.
In light of these developments, Liam Gallagher reacted to the tumultuous ticket situation, acknowledging his limited capacity to assist. He engaged with a fan on X/Twitter, who inquired: “Liam, what do you think about the ticket situation? Are fans considered bots when they demand refunds?”
In response, the Britpop icon stated: “I do not constitute the rule. We are trying to do the right thing. This is what it is; I am a singer. Get off my business.”

The Ongoing Ticket Controversy
During the sale, Oasis fans encountered fierce competition for tickets, with prices on secondary sites reaching as high as £10,000 on Twickets. This situation unfolded amidst a broader discussion about ticket scalping practices, prompting lawmakers to announce plans for regulatory restrictions on the resale of concert tickets.
Further coverage of this issue was reflected in a public consultation conducted last month, which examined measures necessary for “better protection of fans, improving access to live events, and supporting the growth of the UK’s leading live events sector.”
In a statement to NME, Ticketmaster advised those affected by the ticket cancellations to check the FAQ section on the Oasis Refunds page. Here. They mentioned, “For ticket buyers who believe their tickets were returned in error, refer to the email sent by the relevant agent upon reporting.”
“Experts and fraud teams examined all sales to identify any bot activity. We cannot disclose specifics as we do not want those using bots to gain further insight into the process.”
Future Plans and Concert Details
This morning on X/Twitter, Liam Gallagher also addressed another fan question regarding potential guest performers during the concerts. His response was concise, extinguishing hopes for surprise appearances: “None of this stupidity.”
The tour is set to kick off at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on July 4, followed by performances at Manchester’s Hitton Park, Wembley Stadium in London, and Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh, concluding in Dublin. Support acts include actors and Richard Ashcroft from the Verve.
After their UK shows, the band will take their tour internationally, with dates slated in Canada, the USA, Mexico, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Argentina, Chile, and Brazil.
The long-anticipated reunion of the Britpop icons has sparked controversy not only due to the issues with bots and ticket reselling but also because of Ticketmaster’s implementation of “dynamic pricing,” which causes ticket prices to soar—often by hundreds of pounds—without prior notice.
The group distanced itself from the practice of dynamic pricing, previously stating they were unaware that it would be utilized during the sales. They emphasized that “previous meetings between promoters, Ticketmaster, and the band’s management sought to outline a ticket sales strategy that should have provided a fair experience for fans, yet the execution fell short of expectations.”
