Laufey Establishes Fund to Support Youth Orchestra Programs Globally

Lauphi Launches Initiative

Lauphi has officially launched the Lauphi Foundation, a new initiative focused on supporting young musicians through youth orchestra programs.

Support for Young Musicians

The Icelandic-Chinese artist, who has received a Grammy award, emphasizes the importance of musical education.

“The support and scholarships I received in my childhood have directly contributed to the successful career I enjoy today. It has always been my dream to help the next generation achieve the same level of support and opportunities. I am eager to connect with young musicians!” says Lauphi.

Foundational grants from the Lauphi Foundation will benefit the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Yola La Phil program, the Youth Orchestra of the Cleveland Orchestra, and the Carnegie Hall Nyo2 and Nyo Jazz programs. Plans for future expansion include additional orchestras worldwide.

AWAL, AEG Presents, and Steinway & Sons have come together as founding partners, while Warner Chappell, Catbird, and Gibson are participating as partners in this endeavor. Additionally, a portion of the proceeds from sales of Mei Mei The Bunny will support the foundation.

This initiative follows the establishment of the Lafey Lafey School for graduate students in the Music Business program at Syracuse University in 2024, which offers £100,000 in scholarships for foreign students over a ten-year period. Lauphi has also contributed to various organizations in Los Angeles that support communities impacted by recent wildfires, including World Central Kitchen, the Humane Society of Pasadena, Altadena Girls, and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.
