Lady Gaga’s Thoughts on Her Music Career
Lady Gaga revealed that she had contemplated stepping away from music during her career while discussing her experiences in a recent appearance on Hot Ones.
Challenges After Leaving New York
In a series of interviews hosted by Sean Evans, where celebrities eat increasingly spicy chicken wings, Gaga opened up about the struggles she faced after leaving New York. “I missed the community that I had in New York, and it was really difficult. So there were definitely times when I felt that perhaps I should leave,” she explained. “I know for sure that I will never. I would definitely say that I was tested, and I always did not give up. And I still do this, so this should mean that I want to do it.”
During the interview, Gaga also reminisced about her early days performing in New York, including her time spent in a small venue. “I was so excited,” she shared. “It was an honor for me to be asked to perform there. I remember that I made my outfit for my show in a tapor – I sewed it myself. I just look back with love.”
Her Journey to Getting Gigs
“My whole day was spent trying to get these concerts. I would knock on the door and simply say: ‘Can I play here?’ Or I would call and pretend to be my manager. I would tell people: ‘She is so hot right now.’ Sometimes I focused. I would do everything to book a show.”
The new Gaga album “MayHem” follows her previous releases: 2020’s “Chromatica” and 2024’s “Harlequin.” The recording draws influences from “alternative, electric grooves, melodies of Prince and Bowie, guitar work, funk-bass lines, French electronic dance, and analog synthesizers.” So far, three singles have been released: “Die with a Smile” featuring Bruno Mars, “Disease,” and “Abracadabra.”
