Kunlun Tech’s AI Music Innovations
Last year, amid the boom in the II musical market, we reported on the $4.8 billion Kunlun Tech technological giant and its introduction of a fully AI-powered music streaming service and an innovative music generator called Mureka.
Now, Kunlun Tech, whose market capitalization has surged to around 43 billion Chinese yuan (6 billion dollars), envisions what it calls “the first music in the world, using a large model for reasoning.”
Features of Mureka
Kunlun asserts that Mureka O1 outperforms competing models, such as Suno V4, across various metrics, demonstrating exceptional results in mixing quality, vocal textures, and instrumental tools. The company claims that the AI’s ability to make subjective assessments places it “among the highest level” in this category.
The new Mureka V6 and O1 models cater to a wide array of musical styles, including Jazz, Electronic, Pop, Country, Rock, and Dance. Both models are also capable of conveying emotional expressions, such as “happiness, condescension, secrecy, vitality, sadness, and various other emotional states,” according to the press release.
Notably, Mureka introduces two functions that could transform how artists and producers engage with AI tools. The first is the “music reference function,” which enables users to upload existing audio files or YouTube links as creative references.
The second feature is the vocal capability of Mureka. The company claims it is “the world’s first AI music generation platform that allows users to select a singer’s vocal timbre.” In addition to selecting from pre-programmed vocal styles, users can upload their own voice for the AI to analyze and replicate, creating what Kunlun describes as “personalized exclusive work with one click.”
The platform also features Mureka’s store, where users can “sell AI-generated music.”
Both AI models are accessible via Open API Services, marking the creation of “the first high-quality artificial intelligence platform,” according to Kunlun’s AI unit Skyv. This allows developers and music platforms to integrate Mureka’s features into their own products and services.
Kunlun is the parent company of web browser Opera and was the former owner of Grindr.
Skywork division has been developed in collaboration with Singularity AI; during its launch, Skywork was described as being “in comparison to ChatGPT and is capable of “interacting with users through natural language.”
Recently, Skywork announced that Mureka O1 introduces “Chain of Thoughts” (COT) technology for music generation for the first time. This technology involves reasoning and self-criticism during the output process, according to the company.
“Musicot generates a general musical structure prior to completing audio for decoding. This method notably enhances the structural coherence and instrumental arrangement of the generated music.”

The company further explained that Muiscot no longer requires manual annotations, which not only elevates the analysis and quality of the generated music but also opens a new path for high-level music generation.
In addition, Kunlun offers an accurate setting based on Mureka V6, providing tailored AI music services for musicians, producers, brands, and game developers.
Apart from its AI music models, Kunlun also launched a comprehensive AI music streaming service in August last year, named Melody, featuring “personalized, AI-generated music flows adapted to users’ moods and scripts.”
Recently, Kunlun Tech’s Chairman and CEO Fang Khan hinted at the company’s ambition to continue increasing investments in AI models, particularly in the realm of music, as reported by Yicai Global on Thursday (March 27).
Skywork noted that the Mureka platform and its related offerings have attracted users from over 100 countries since their initial launch. The V6 model supports music creation in 10 languages, including English, Japanese, Korean, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Russian, and Chinese.
Globally, users can now access the new V6 and O1 models via Mureka’s website.
Kunlun is gaining traction in music technology amid rising competition. Other tech giants are also entering the sector, including Butterfly, which launched a mobile sound creation tool, and Tencent Music Entertainment with Tianqin Lab collaborating with Tencent AI Lab on their own AI model.
These developments arrive at a critical time for the AI music industry. Competitors such as Suno have faced substantial legal challenges, with major label groups suing the company for using copyrighted material without consent.
In June, $500 million were claimed against major recording companies, alongside fellow AI company Udio, for allegedly training their systems on records from major labels without permission, a claim that they largely acknowledged in court statements in August.
