Knee Cup Leads Free Palestine Movement at Coachella
The knee cup led the Free Palestine movement during the second set of Coachella 2025.
Irish Group’s Performance and Reaction
This occurred after the performance of the Irish group at the California festival last week, where, as reported, the singing of the anti-Margaret Thatcher anthem was reduced from their set, along with their missing messages.
The day after their performance, the trio, consisting of Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap, and DJ Próvaí, took to Twitter/X to respond to our article, confirming that the section was cut from a live broadcast, along with their message “Free Palestine.”
“Our reports about the genocide supported by the United States in Gaza somehow never appeared on the screens,” they wrote. “The next Friday at Coachella, and it will be sorted. GRMA to everyone who collected the tent.”
During the weekend, they returned from a strong missing position, projecting the slogan “Fuck Israel, Free Palestine” behind them on stage. Social media figure Hassan Pikeker intervened to help broadcast the group’s message, joining them on stage to livestream the set through his Twitch channel.

Another exchange of messages that appeared during their performance included: “Israel commits genocide against the Palestinian people,” and “this is supported by the US government, which arms and finances Israel despite their war crimes.”
During their set, Mo Chara delivered a brief speech to the crowd: “The Irish were not long ago pursued at the hands of the British, but we were never bombed from the fucking heavens, and this is nowhere to go.”
“The Palestinians have nowhere to go; this is their fucking house, and they are bombed from the sky,” he added. “If you do not call it genocide, what the hell do you call it?” Then the group led the crowd in chanting “Free, free Palestine.”
The long-standing support of the Palestine group has ensured they loudly broadcast their message through social networks and prominent television performances. In their cover for NME last year, they took a strong stance against what they describe as the “occupation and genocide” of Israel in Gaza, while raising nearly 100,000 pounds for a charity in the Aida refugee camp in Palestine.
More recently, they condemned Israel for violating the ceasefire in Gaza, aiming their message at the “most vulnerable people on Earth.” They followed the “best way to live” by artists who criticized the Prime Minister of Ireland, calling Michelle Martin “Lizal” and “Bending” after her recent visit to the White House to meet with US President Donald Trump.
Their performance that weekend also targeted former UK Prime Minister Thatcher, who they previously referred to as “C*NT”. They remarked, “Here, if anyone wondered, Margaret Thatcher is still dead,” which elicited a huge reaction from the crowd, which then sang along to “Maggie in the box” to the tune of KC and the Sunshine Band’s ‘Shake It Up’.

Elsewhere over the weekend, Coachella’s Agu Cook had a chat with a guest for Yippy Ki -I, while Lady Gaga faced technical difficulties but humorously joked with fans about singing on stage.
Billy Joe Armstrong from Green Day also surprised the crowd during their slot, seemingly squashing rumors about tension between them and Charli XCX after their fans took to social media.
Other artists featured included Missy Elliott, Megan Thee Stallion, solo performances from Blackpink’s Lisa and Jennie, Benson Boone, original Misfits, Zedd, The Prodigy, Beabadoobee, Clairo, Enhypen, and more.
YouTube is set to broadcast the festival via the Coachella YouTube Channel. Check out the channel for the latest updates on Coachella.
