The announcement, made on Wednesday (March 19) by the Yolŋu Surf Rock Band on social media, coincided with the eve of their national tour across Australia.

Details of the Departure

They stated: “Hey, we have news to share – King Stingray and Yirrŋa have parted ways.” The band didn’t specify the reasons for the vocalist’s exit but confirmed that the NGALANAK Vanamby singer, who had performed with King Stingray during their recent tour in the United States, will replace him.

Furthermore, King Stingray reassured fans that “as always, our main performer, Dima Burarrang, will bring energy, as he always does. This tour, “For a Dream,” will be something truly special – the same spirit of King Stingray, the same irresistible energy, and a whole lot of love.”

Their Australian tour commenced yesterday (March 20) in Sydney, with four more shows scheduled throughout the continent until April 4, concluding in Fremantle.

Just days prior to the announcement, Yirrŋa Yunupiŋu revealed King Stingray’s inaugural tour of Europe and the UK, set to begin in May. The initial leg of the tour includes support for King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard in Lithuania, Greece, and Bulgaria, before embarking on their own headlining dates in Belgium, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, and London.
