Kills birds reveal new EP
Kills birds have announced their upcoming EP 'Crave', which is set to be released on April 11. The Los Angeles-based band also unveiled a new single titled “Madison.”
Details of the EP
This five-track EP follows their 2021 album Married and marks their first release under Lucky Number. The collection was produced by Aron Kobayashi Ritch, known for collaborating with Momma and Been Stellar.
Inspiration behind “Madison”
“Madison’s inspiration came from touring North America with Sleigh Bells,” the band shares. “While playing in San Francisco, a storm trapped us in an underground Airbnb with no power. During the heavy rain, we began sketching out melodies and chords. The gloomy atmosphere and our basement setting ignited deep nostalgia, reflecting on Nina and Jacob’s upbringing in the Midwest. This nostalgia influenced the song, which lyrically explores adolescence on the verge of adulthood, focusing on a pivotal moment in Nina’s childhood when a tragic event disrupted her sense of security and comfort. As we developed the arrangement collectively, it became evident that this song would serve as a centerpiece for our forthcoming EP.”
The band consists of vocalist Nina Leti, guitarist Jacob Loeb, bassist Fielder Thomas, and drummer Griffin Kisner, and they have previously toured alongside acts such as Foo Fighters, Sleigh Bells, Shame, and the Viagra Boys.
