Kevin Cummins Announces New Oasis Book

The renowned musical photographer Kevin Cummins has unveiled a new book, Oasis: General Plan, featuring numerous previously unpublished photographs of the Gallagher brothers.

Insights on Their Early Days

As someone who captured the group’s journey from the very beginning, the book offers fans a glimpse of the brothers during the “twelve months of seismic changes that defined the identity of Oasis,” according to the press release.

Famed for his work with NME, Cummins has photographed icons from Jan Curtis to David Bowie. Recently, he discussed his involvement in Oasis’s ascent in the early nineties: “I was tasked with photographing them using various lighting, locations, and styles to discover what suited them best.”

Devoted Oasis fans have eagerly anticipated this reunion since its announcement in August. During an interview with NME, a 29-year-old Oasis enthusiast and sports writer from Manchester, Ashraf, expressed his excitement while at Sifters Records, reminiscing about the time the Gallagher brothers visited the store. “Everything that I wanted to do started here,” he shared.

“I get emotional about this. I’ve fantasized about this moment for many years,” he reflected. He further shared that his father played Oasis music at home. “He wasn’t really into rock, but because they were from Manchester, he could relate to them. As I began to connect more with my city, they became even more significant to me.”

Additionally, the band announced a film titled Live ’25, which will be produced alongside the tour by Peaky Blinders creator Stephen Knight, directed by Dylan South and Will Laville, known for their documentary about the LCD Soundsystem, Shut Up and Play the Hits.

Recently, the band reissued their fourth album “Standing on the Shoulder of Giants” to celebrate its 25th anniversary and engaged in a brief chart battle with Kendrick Lamar after a reissue of their classic single “Whatever” threatened to claim the number one spot once more after 31 years.
