Keith Richards to Receive the “Residents of the State of Connecticut” Award

Keith Richards Recognized in Connecticut

Keith Richards, the legendary guitarist of The Rolling Stones, has received a new honor from the residents of Connecticut.

Richards, who has resided in the state since 1985, was presented with the Governor of Connecticut’s award on Wednesday (March 5). This accolade was established to celebrate creativity, passion, and generosity within the community.

First Recipient of the Governor’s Award

The musician is the inaugural honoree of this award, receiving an individual medallion during the ceremony held at the Westport library in Westport, Connecticut. Governor Ned Lamont, a fan of The Rolling Stones, commended Richards for his impressive musical career and his contributions to local charitable efforts.

“Well, thank you very much. And thanks, Connecticut,” Richards expressed as he accepted the award. “You seemed to have lost for words with something like this around my neck. All I can say is, I’ve been here 40 years, and it’s been a great place for me.”

“The family has had a wonderful life here; the children grew up wonderfully and are incredibly happy in every way.”

In related news about The Rolling Stones, the band is reportedly reconsidering its plans to tour the UK and Europe in 2025.

According to Time, the group has opted for a tour return at the end of this year, reportedly after plans for a performance at the multimillion-pound Tottenham Hotspur stadium fell through amid other scheduled shows across Europe.

In a four-star review of their latest album, “Hackney Diamonds,” NME described it as an “Absolute Barnstormer,” adding that while “Hackney Diamonds” may conclude a remarkable career in rock music, it would not be a bad point to conclude their journey—an organic ending, albeit not an ordinary one.

Additionally, Ronnie Wood spoke with NME about the “explosive” tracks on the album and their live performance potential. “I have complete faith. We could play the whole album, do you know what I mean? But (Mick and Keith) might interject, ‘Oh, not Ron, it’s so ambitious.’ We are not going to forget about the back catalog,” he remarked.
