Participants in the Mission
Joining Perry, King, and Sanchez are former NASA missile construction scientist Aisha Bow, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, and film producer Kerianne Flynn, among others.
According to New York Post, Sanchez was instrumental in assembling this team. They will be traveling aboard a Blue Origin spacecraft, a company founded by Bezos, which also saw its first flight in 2021, later this spring.
Gail King’s Reflections
In a related comment during her announcement on CBS Mornings, King expressed, “I’m unsure how to fully express the simultaneous feelings of fear and excitement. It’s reminiscent of how I felt giving birth.”
She continued, “This has never been a dream of mine. However, someone mentioned I might need to create new dreams, Gail.”
King also recounted her discussion with her friend Oprah Winfrey regarding her decision to join the mission, stating, “As soon as Kirby and Will joined, I felt compelled. I thought Oprah might advise against it, but she said, ‘You’d regret not seizing this opportunity if you let it pass.’ And she was absolutely right.”
Sanchez also expressed her enthusiasm for the mission on Instagram, stating, “I truly view this team as explorers and storytellers, each of us will provide a unique perspective on our beautiful planet. The countdown is on! #TAKINGUPSPACE.”
This mission marks the 11th flight for Blue Origin’s new aerospace program owned by Bezos.
In other updates, Katy Perry is set to embark on her own life tour in 2025, celebrating her first tour in seven years.
