Katy Perry Connects with Fans Online: “Despite My Battered and Bruised Journey, I Keep Looking Towards the Light”

Katy Perry’s Message to Fans

Katy Perry turned to the online unanimity that she received in the new message to the fans – see what she said below.

On Tuesday, the singer of “Fireworks” shared a long comment addressing her fans about how she has dealt with harmful comments on social networks throughout her career. Perry responded: “I love you guys, grew up with you, and so glad to see you all over the world this year! Please know that I am in order, I worked a lot, knowing who I am, what is real, and what is important to me.

She continued: “My therapist said something many years ago that changed the rules of the game: ‘No one can make you believe in yourself that you still do not believe in yourself,’ and if I have any feelings about this, then this is an opportunity to investigate those feelings.”

“When the ‘online’ world is trying to make me a human piñata, I take it with grace and send them love, because I know that so many people are causing pain in many ways, and the Internet is often a dump for absent-minded and unfulfilled individuals.”

She further stated: “I know that we treat each other in small ways when I do this. It’s not perfect, and I’ve actually removed this word from my dictionary. In the human journey of playing the game of life with many, I may fall sometimes, but I get back up and continue to play the game, having experienced and reduced adventures.”

This message comes just a few weeks after Perry was once again subjected to viral criticism on social media, as fans mocked the choreography seen during her “Life” tour, which kicked off in Mexico City last week.

The start of the tour followed her announcement of the cancellation of two shows in Guadalajara in May, as the venue would not be completed on time. Additionally, the tour began shortly after she faced significant backlash for her space flight earlier this month; Perry was among the participants in the first-ever space mission in history.

During this journey, Perry sang “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong and spoke about the upcoming tour setlist for “Life.” She was later seen holding a flag while in space, capturing the awe of land below her.

This flight sparked memes and controversies, drawing criticism from other celebrities regarding the rationale behind the space mission. Actor Olivia Munn described Perry as “gluttonous,” while Emily Ratajkowski expressed her disapproval of the space venture, and Lily Allen labeled the mission “out of touch,” declaring there was “no damn reason” for it.

Subsequently, Allen revisited her comments: “I shouldn’t have brought her name into this; it was my own internalized misogyny. I have reflected on this and realize it was unnecessary for me to lash out at her. I don’t agree with what they did, but she isn’t the only person involved—maybe just the most famous and divisive.”

Another point of contention among fans is Perry’s ongoing collaboration with the disgraced producer Dr. Luke, despite Kesha’s allegations of sexual and emotional abuse against him. Perry defended her choice last year, stating: “I understand this has sparked a lot of conversation; he was just one of many producers I’ve worked with. The reality is that my experiences have shaped my music, and he played a part in that journey.”

As for Perry’s new album, NME gave it a two-star review, describing it as “a decent but somewhat lackluster collection where Perry tries to rediscover her old sense of fun.”
