Circle Jerks’ Performance at Coachella 2025
At his recent Setu Coachella 2025, Kate Morris from Punk Band Circle Jerks energized the audience and called for the “army” Luigi Manjion.
Moving Sfgate, Morris ended his performance with “Coup D’état” – a song that concludes with the lyrics, “Kill All” – providing a brief twist on the 1983 track from his third album “Golden Dish of Hits”.
“This song, this last line, ends with ‘killing everything’. This is a rather damn ugly statement,” said Morris to the crowd. “In ugly times. Do not think that we are encouraging it.”
However, he clarified: “What we encourage – what would be completely damn – is the army of Luigis,” referencing the alleged killer.
Controversy Surrounding Luigi Manjion
Mangiona, 26 years old, made international headlines in December when he allegedly shot the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, Brian Thompson, near the Manhattan Hotel.
Throughout their four-year journey, the punk group has never shied away from expressing its political views.
Later during the performance, Morris referred to his sister as someone who supported “this guy,” referring to U.S. President Donald Trump, stating that he could no longer visit her due to her support for White Christian Nationalism in a fiery tirade.
Earlier this month, for Bi-bi-x, U.S. prosecutors announced their intention to seek the death penalty for Mangion. Attorney General Pam Bondi stated that she instructed federal prosecutors to pursue the death penalty for “intentional, cold-blooded murder.” This decision was met with criticism from Mangion’s lawyer, who labeled it “barbaric.”
Mangion currently faces 11 state charges in New York, including first-degree murder and murder as a terrorism-related crime.
In other Coachella news from the weekend, the band received backlash from fans who claimed their set was cut from a live broadcast after Morris led a chant against the establishment. However, Morris’s comments were left unedited in the stream.
They commented: “Not the only thing that was cut; reports about the U.S.-supported genocide in Gaza, one way or another, never appeared on the screens. The next Friday at Coachella, and it will be sorted. GRMA to everyone who collected in the tent.”
