The acoustic ballad features the duo singing: “”I used to think that it was magic / now I am sure that this is a curse / curse my whole life, becoming clean / just in mud ”, illustrating the struggle of two individuals in a turbulent relationship.
“Dirt” marks the fourth single from the upcoming Baker & Torres album, set for release on April 18 via Matador. It is available for pre-order here.
The new track follows previously released singles “Sylvia”, “Tuesday”, and the lead single “Sugar in the Tank”. Earlier this month, they also debuted their song “Bottom of a Bottle” on the Daily Show.

Insights from Julien Baker & Torres
During their appearance on the Daily Show, Baker & Torres discussed the creative process behind “Send My Path” and their backgrounds in religious education. Baker stated, “There is an idea that when you talk about prayer, you are discussing dogmatic religious faith. But I feel that organized religion isn’t necessarily the same. Often, it can lead to persecution.”
The release of “Dirt” comes shortly after the duo announced the cancellation of their upcoming performance at the University of Ohio on March 27, as well as their set at the Big Ears festival in Knoxville on March 29-30, due to one of their “key members supporting a concussion.”
Regardless, the duo is set to begin their “Send a Prayer on My Path” tour in 2025, starting on April 23 in Richmond, Virginia, and concluding in Omaha, North Carolina on May 12. They will also partake in several music festivals. For the full list of tour dates and ticket purchases, visit here.
