Julian Lennon undergoes emergency surgery
Julian Lennon has announced that he underwent emergency surgery after being diagnosed with skin cancer.
Warning to fans about skin cancer checks
The eldest son of Beatles icon John Lennon took to his official Instagram to encourage fans to prioritize skin cancer screenings following his second melanoma diagnosis.
Before heading to New York from Los Angeles for a series of speaking engagements that included Good Morning America, Sirius XM, iHeart Radio, and a book signing and Q&A event at Fotografiska to promote his book, Fragile Moments of Life, he attended a routine appointment with his dermatologist, Dr. Tess Mauricio. Julian expressed gratitude, stating that Dr. Tess “caught and operated on my mole/skin cancer several years ago and literally saved my life.”
After his appearance on Good Morning America, Julian received an urgent call from the dermatologist informing him of two skin lesions found on his shoulder and forearm, one of which required immediate surgery due to being melanoma.
“So instead of going home to put up the Christmas tree and end the year happily relaxing at home, I flew straight back to Los Angeles after all my work in New York was finished and went straight from LAX to surgery with a surgeon recommended by Dr. Tess, @timneavin, who spent several hours cleaning me up and operating on a large margin, in the hope that at the end of the day we would have clean fields that would mean freedom from cancer.”
