Insights Into the Mixtape’s Title

Discussing the mixtape’s title, Adetunji explained, “To me, Jaguar is someone who navigates through spaces and conquers every environment he enters. This resonates with how my sound continuously evolves and takes over every space I enter. “Jaguar’s Dream” is a glimpse into my personal life and the world of my thoughts through sound and emotion—a true representation of my aspiration that I aim to realize.”

Adetunji’s breakthrough track “Kehlani” has emerged as one of Barack Obama’s favorite songs of 2024. In an interview with NME last year, he reflected on the track’s rapid success. “It’s wild to hear this in the club,” he remarked. “Seeing Jaden Smith enjoying it, witnessing Travis Scott hype it up in ‘History’… it formulated a culture that I cherish.”

The artist also detailed how he collaborated with American R&B star Kehlani on the track, sharing that he had always wanted her to feature but felt shy about extending the invitation. “She called me and said, ‘So I’m getting an open verse?’ and I thought, ‘This is unbelievable!'” he recounted. “In the studio, I needed to send her a file, and in the chaos, I named it something silly! I was able to convey this to her, and she became obsessed with it. The remix turned out amazing.”

The version featuring Kehlani has been nominated for “Best Melodic Rap Performance” at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, scheduled for February 2 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.
