Ortega expressed her feelings about working with Gaga: “This is the best. She is the best, definitely one of the most talented people I’ve collaborated with. It was a truly special environment to be there with her and Tim (Burton), two individuals whom I respect and am inspired by greatly.”

“It’s surprising to discover that she is so loving, very kind, and restrained. I like that you never really know what to expect from her, but you can always count on kindness and generosity,” Ortega added.

In a four-star review, Nick Levin wrote for NME: “Mayhem” feels like a fantastic Gaga album; it’s incredibly enjoyable. At times, it’s a bit like reuniting with an old friend who still makes sense even when they seem to ramble. When she sings “The river is in my eyes, I have a poem in the throat” on “Loverug,” it’s just her unique way of expressing sadness at her core. Seventeen years after her debut with “Just Dance,” Lady Gaga continues to be a powerhouse in POP music, creating an impeccably crafted chaos.”

In a four-star review of Wednesday, Alex Flud wrote for NME: “Despite complicated relationships, Wednesday concludes with a rare success story. It is terrifying, strange, mysterious, and wonderfully delightful.”
