Jean Smart Urges Postponement of Awards Ceremonies Amid Los Angeles Wildfires

Jean Smart Calls for Changes to Awards Ceremonies

Jean Smart has suggested delaying the awards ceremonies in light of the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles.

Awards Season Disrupted by Wildfires

Awards season began over the weekend with the Golden Globes, but the recent wildfires in Los Angeles—the worst in the region’s history—have already prompted adjustments to the awards schedule.

Currently, five significant fires are active, leading nearly 180,000 residents of Los Angeles County to evacuate. Tragically, at least five lives have been lost.

Several celebrities, including Paris Hilton, Billy Crystal, Adam Brody, and Leighton Meister, have reportedly lost their homes due to the fires.

Now, Khaki star Jean Smart has advocated for the award ceremonies to not be broadcast and for the profits to be given to fire victims and firefighters.

“With all due respect, as we celebrate Hollywood, I hope that any of the networks airing the upcoming awards will seriously consider NOT televising them and donating the proceeds they would have generated to fire victims and firefighters,” the actress expressed in a post on her Instagram account.
