Jason Aldean Praises Carrie Underwood as a ‘Pro’ for Overcoming Technical Issues During Donald Trump’s Inauguration Performance

Technical Difficulties at the Inauguration

Jason Aldean praised Carrie Underwood as a “pro” for managing technical issues during her performance at President Donald Trump's inauguration.

The “Before He Cheats” singer took the stage on Monday (January 20) to perform “America the Beautiful” following Trump's swearing-in ceremony.

Speaking prior to the event, Underwood stated, “I love our country and I am honored to have been asked to sing at the inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event.” Associated Press. “I am honored to answer this call at a time when we must all come together in a spirit of unity and look to the future.”

However, when the day came, she faced technical challenges: the backing track failed to play, prompting Underwood to perform a cappella.

Aldean Comes to Underwood’s Defense

Country music star Jason Aldean stood up for her, stating to Fox and Friends, “First of all, this song is hard to write anyway. When you're supposed to sing along to a track and it gives you a reference point for the song, and it doesn't exist, it requires a big step and a professional move on her part. So I thought it was great.”

Throughout her career, Underwood kept her political beliefs mostly private but still faced backlash online regarding her association with Trump. She did not endorse any candidate in the recent presidential election.

Aldean voiced his feelings about artists sharing their political opinions, telling the outlet, “I feel a little vindicated. My wife and I talk about this all the time, especially in the last four years; you get a lot of anger for expressing what we think about the country’s state and the regime in power. It was a little weird at times.”

Underwood faced criticism following the announcement of her performance, although Whoopi Goldberg defended her choice while noting she would not be watching.

The actor and talk show host has previously criticized Trump’s policies, even refusing to acknowledge his name after the election.

Donald Trump’s inauguration also included performances by Snoop Dogg, Soulja Boy, and Nelly, the latter calling the opportunity an “honor.” Kid Rock and the Village People, who performed “YMCA,” were also part of the lineup.

Trump was officially sworn in as the 47th president of the United States on January 20 and quickly issued several executive orders, including a controversial one that recognized only two genders: male and female.

This policy faced significant backlash, including a pledge of $10,000 from Lucy Dacus towards trans-surgery for her followers, encouraging others to do the same.

Ariana Grande also shared a repost on Instagram Stories stating: “Let’s be very clear: Gay and transgender people were here before Donald Trump and will continue to be here after his death. Whether you want us to exist is secondary to the simple fact that we exist. The sun doesn't care if you sign a decree prohibiting it from rising every morning. It just keeps growing.”

During the inauguration, Elon Musk delivered a speech expressing his joy about Trump’s victory, punctuating it with a gesture that many compared to a Nazi salute. My Chemical Romance’s Frank Iero reacted by stating: “Fuck this guy and every single person who supports this shit or wastes their time trying to defend it,” adding, “Your true colors shine through. #SmashHate.”
