Singer-songwriter from Manchester
The talented singer-songwriter from Manchester, jasmine.4.t, has released the title track from her debut album “You are the morning”.
About the new single
This fresh single comes after her previous releases “Elephant” and “Skin on Skin,” and signifies her debut as the first UK signing to Phoebe Bridgers’ Saddest Factory Records.
“One of my oldest and closest friends, Khan, supported me during my transition. She regularly invited me when I had nowhere to stay. She helped me deal with the pain I left behind and find the strength to fight for my life and the lives of those around me,” says jasmine.4.t about the track. “This fight is urgent as on Transgender Day of Remembrance (November 20) we named 427 transgender people who died violently this year.”
“This song is about the healing that can be found in strange friendships. It’s about the resilience of queer people in the face of violence. It is about our potential to create change within ourselves, those around us, and the world at large. I believe transgender individuals possess an incredible capacity to transform this world. Naturally, we challenge gender/sex norms. Moreover, this year has witnessed transgender people dismantling violent systems across the board to forge a brighter future. The phrase “You are the morning” symbolizes the awakening of our power and serves as a call to action.”
The album is set to release on January 17th and was created under the production expertise of Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus at Sound City Studios in Los Angeles. It features the all-trance band jasmine.4.t, including Phoenix Rousiamanis on piano and strings, Eden O’Brian on drums, and Emily Abbott on bass.
