About the Song and Its Popularity
The song, which lasts just 34 seconds, features the leading hero Black Steve singing while frying chicken with molten lava. Its absurd and whimsical nature quickly became a hit among fans of the film.
Thanks to the film’s immense popularity, the track debuted at number 77 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. It also set a record for the shortest song to enter the chart, surpassing the previous record held by Kid Cudi’s 37-second interlude “Beautiful Trip”.
Last week, Black achieved a similar milestone in the UK, becoming the shortest track to enter their top 40 singles, debuting at number 21 on April 18. This achievement eclipsed Johnny Tank’s record of a 36-second hit from Visbi titled “Ladies Bracials,” which peaked at number 27 in 2007.

He also became the highest-charting Black artist in the UK, surpassing “Peaches” from Film Super Mario Bros. which peaked at number 27 in 2023. Persistent D has also charted in the past with hits like “POD” (24) and “Tribute” (84).
Film Adaptation and Audience Reactions
Despite receiving poor reviews, the adaptation of the hit video game film Minecraft has become the highest-grossing film of 2025 so far.
The film has sparked heated debates about cinema etiquette, particularly after videos emerged of audiences singing along and throwing popcorn during the screening, especially during the “Chicken Jockey” scene. Some theaters even issued warnings stating that “any form of antisocial behavior, especially anything that may disturb other guests, such as loud screams, pops, or cries, is not permitted.” Jack Black himself surprised fans by attending a screening of the Minecraft film and asked people not to throw popcorn.
In response, Warner Bros. announced plans for “noisy” indicators introduced in Minecraft: Block Party Edition. New screenings will take place next month and encourage audiences to “sing (and meme) together” with the film.
In a two-star review, NME noted: “Unfortunately, Minecraft film seems more like an advertisement than a celebration of what makes it special. In its straightforward 101-minute runtime, it may inspire newcomers to explore the game for themselves, but one would expect a film about creativity to be a bit more innovative.”
