IVE members Wonyoung and Yujin recently shared their experiences of dealing with hateful comments in a new interview.

Today (January 15th), a new clip from the Korean variety series Yu quiz on the block was released, featuring guest stars Wonyoung and IVE’s Eugene. In the preview, both singers discuss their personal experiences as two of K-pop’s most prominent idols, attracting significant public attention.

“If I were an office worker, it would be like I was being evaluated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,” Eugene explained during the interview. “I often found myself reading the comments late at night or first thing in the morning. It was scary and unsettling to realize that I was unconsciously preoccupied with how the public viewed me.”

Wonyoung echoed this sentiment, noting that “there are many things I hear against my will” regarding malicious messages or comments directed at her. “I don’t want to hear them, yet people judge me based on a few seconds of video, oblivious to who I am as a person,” she remarked.

Overcoming Challenges of Fame

Despite the challenges associated with their fame as K-pop idols, Wonyoung revealed how she has learned to cope. “There is a saying: ‘No pain without reward.’ This too shall pass. That’s life. I began to adopt this mindset,” she added.

In another part of the teaser, the duo discussed the strict rules imposed on them during their training and the extreme measures they employed to circumvent these regulations, reminiscing about instances when they attempted to “lift their hair or adjust their posture” to show a lower weight on the scale, acknowledging that these methods lack scientific validity.

IVE, which includes members Gaul, Rey, Liz, and Liso, is gearing up to release their third mini album, “IVE Empathy,” on February 3rd. They recently released a new song titled “Rebel Heart” on January 13.
