Yesterday (May 12), Edam Entertainment announced through Naver article that IU is currently “preparing a new album to be released in May.” The exact release date has yet to be disclosed.

Upcoming Collaborations

Additionally, Edam shared that IU will also release a music video featuring Astro singer Cha Eun-woo, titled “Camera of Cabbage.” Little information is available about IU’s album or the music video with Cha Eun-woo.

This marks IU’s first release of the year. During her hiatus from music, she received acclaim for her lead role in the Netflix K-Drama When Life Gives You Tangerines, starring alongside Park Bo-gum. The series, set in the 1960s, follows a couple as they navigate trials and triumphs throughout the four seasons on a South Korean island.

In March, IU was featured in the “Butterfly” episode of G-Dragon’s current YouTube show, Palette IU, where G-Dragon later returned the favor by sharing IU’s performance in his own episode.

Recent Releases

IU’s last release was her ninth EP, “The Winning,” which she dropped in February 2024, featuring singles such as “Love Will Win Everything,” “Buyer,” and “Holsey.” The single “Love Victory” was noted by NME as one of the 25 best K-Pop songs of 2024.

In a four-star review of the EP, NME Ryan Daily stated: “Despite minor stylistic shortcomings—and with a significant year ahead for one of Korea’s leading talents—IU soars high and free, marking a triumphant return in her first release of the new decade.”
