Morgan expressed in a press release: “After almost four years, I am returning to what I have loved my entire life; I play cool authentic music for cool authentic people.”
“The group includes Mateo DiFontaine, who was one of the original members of the Fun Lovin Outlaws. He plays keyboards, turntables, and steel guitar. One of my old friends and the godfather of my children, known simply as “King,” is a singer in the Tangiers Blues Band, a band I started in the late 1990s as a side gig with friends in New York. He plays the bass guitar and tells jokes.
He added: “The new members are a fantastic addition to the energy we bring to our live shows. Leon James on the trap kit adds flavor and flair to my tunes, and his vibe during our set will showcase what a dynamic drummer he is.
“For the keys, I wanted someone with a solid grasp of funk, soul, rock, punk, and hip-hop, who wasn’t incarcerated. Adrian Gautrey kept getting recommended as the guy who can really bring the B3 organ to life, along with all the other keys that enhance my sound. You definitely need to check him out.”

Morgan stepped down as the frontman of his previous band at the end of 2021. In a statement, the remaining members wished him “the best in his endeavors” and mentioned they would continue performing as Fun Lovin’ Outlaws.
The current lineup includes Brian “Fast” Leiser, Frank Benbini, and Naeem Cortazzi. Morgan formed the group in 1993 with Leizer and Steve Borgovini, who left in 1999. Drummer Benbini joined in 2003. Following Morgan’s departure, Leiser announced he would take on the role of the replacement vocalist, with Cortazzi stepping in as the new guitarist.
Morgan characterized the current version of Fun Lovin’ Criminals as a “sad and creepy tribute” and informed fans that he would not be part of the band moving forward.
Morgan accused FLC of “blocking” him online and claimed they were “trying to quickly hurt” their fans, stating, “(They) don’t want you to know that I’m no longer in the group.”
He further elaborated, “I’m puzzled as to why @funlovincrims blocked me on all their social media just for stating the truth about my absence from the group?
“It’s clear they are scammers and cowards who can’t handle that I’m finally being open about this. They didn’t even have the courage to speak with me before they announced my ‘departure’.”
During an Instagram Live session in March 2022, Leiser and Benbini acknowledged that their relationship with Morgan had become “strained” even before his exit.
They noted that their former bandmate opted not to tour and instead wanted to focus on his performances and DJing.
Morgan is also recognized for his career as a DJ and presenter on BBC Radio 6 Music and beyond. The Huey Show currently airs on the station from 10am to 1pm on Saturdays and he previously hosted programs on Radio 2.
