New documentary explores Diddy’s life
The documentary Making a Bad Boy, which delves into Diddy’s early life and career alongside interviews with individuals close to the rap mogul, has been launched in the US.
Streaming service Peacock debuted the documentary today (January 14), marking the first of two films focused on Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs.
Legal troubles and detention
He is currently incarcerated in a federal prison in New York due to multiple sexual assault lawsuits filed against him, as well as his arrest in September. His trial is set to commence on May 5, and if found guilty of charges that include sex trafficking and racketeering, he faces a potential sentence of 15 years to life.
Combs, who firmly denies all accusations through his legal representation, has been denied bail on several occasions, with his first request denied despite offering $50 million (£40.1 million). Following this, he was reportedly placed on suicide watch.
According to the filmmakers, the documentaries aim to provide “critical insight into the forces that shaped this man and may have made him a monster.”
Friends, colleagues, and a former bodyguard have contributed, alongside exclusive footage of Combs at home and in the studio. Meanwhile, Combs’ legal team claims the documentaries are rife with “unverified assertions and serve as a platform for unfounded conspiracy theories.”
How to watch Making a Bad Boy in the UK
Currently, Peacock is the sole platform where the documentary can be viewed. In the UK, viewers can access Peacock content through a Sky or Now subscription, although a specific UK release date for the documentary is yet to be announced.
For now, UK viewers can also watch the documentary using a VPN (virtual private network). VPNs allow devices to appear as if they are located in a different country and are legal in several countries, including the UK and US, but users must adhere to relevant laws concerning internet use and data protection.
Earlier this year, a trailer for Making a Bad Boy was released, which can be viewed below. In the trailer, an unidentified woman claims to have “witnessed everything” that Diddy did, while another expresses that she believes he “got away with anything.”
