The ex-Smiths frontman initially revealed the concert in early December, marking the conclusion of a series of four performances he held between New York and Los Angeles to finish the year.
On that night, Morrissey wrapped up the show right before midnight, leading into the countdown as “Auld Lang Syne” played, ushering in 2025. He stayed on stage with a sign that read “Happy New You,” embracing his band while performing “(There Will Be Bluebirds) The White Cliffs of Dover” by Vera Lynn.
Throughout the set, the singer showcased songs from his extensive solo career, featuring early favorites like “Everyday Is Like Sunday” and “You’re The One For Me, Fatty,” alongside iconic Smiths tracks “Shoplifters Of The World Unite” and “Please, Please, Please Let Me Have What I Want.”
He also introduced four songs from his upcoming album Bonfire Of Teenagers: “I Am Veronica,” “Rebels Without Applause,” “I Ex-Love You,” and “Sure Enough, The Telephone Rings.”

Recent controversies:
Last month, Morrissey criticized the ongoing war on “free speech” for hindering his ability to release new music, seemingly referring to Bonfire Of The Teenagers, an album he recorded in 2021 that remains unreleased.
In a rare interview, he described the album as “a modern version of ‘The Queen Is Dead,'” and remarked, “The fact that no label will release it is an indication of how childish and scared the music industry has become.”
Morrissey also reportedly dismissed his management team after Johnny Marr refuted several of Morrissey’s statements about The Smiths. In August, Morrissey claimed that Marr had “ignored” an enticing offer from AEG Entertainment Group to reunite the band. He further alleged that Marr had “blocked” the release of The Smiths’ Greatest Hits album.
Shortly after, Morrissey stated that Marr owned all of The Smiths’ “trademark and intellectual property rights” and had the right to tour as that band without him.
A representative for Marr’s management later deemed Morrissey’s comments “inappropriate,” clarifying on X/Twitter, “I didn’t ignore the offer – I said no,” Marr said in his response.
Moreover, Morrissey faced criticism on Wikipedia when his page inaccurately referred to him as a former member of two bands with which he stated he had “no connection”: The Nosebleeds and Slaughter And The Dogs. There have long been rumors that Morrissey collaborated with these bands; however, no such recordings have ever surfaced.
