Album Delay and Track Features

The record was initially set to be released at midnight today (March 14), but Carti delayed the release by three hours. When the album did not drop at 3 a.m., fans became increasingly concerned. According to hip-hop correspondent DJ Akademik, the delay was due to issues with sample clearance (via Hotnewhiphop).

“Music” finally premiered a couple of hours later. The album contains 30 tracks featuring collaborations from renowned artists such as Travis Scott, Future, The Weeknd, Ty Dolla $ign, and Young Thug. Frequent collaborator Lil Uzi Vert also makes an appearance on “Music,” contributing to tracks like “Jumpin” and “Twin Trim” – their first collaboration in seven years since their work on the 2018 project “Die Lit.”

Carti also joins forces with Skepta and Kendrick Lamar for the first time, with Lamar appearing on tracks like “Mojo Jojo,” “Backdoor,” and “Good Credit.”

“Music” (also known as “I Am Music”) is Carti’s third studio album, a follow-up to his polarizing cult classic from 2020, “Whole Lotta Red.” In a three-star review, NME described the LP as “a disappointing continuation (that) boasts moments of shine,” adding: “It’s easy to be let down by the fact that two years have passed for an album that, at first glance, feels like an underestimated collection. However, in some areas, the recording rewards its repetition.”

The Atlanta star first teased the album back in 2021, initially referring to the LP as “Narcissist.” Over the years, the album has seen multiple title changes and delays.

Carti launched a series of promotional singles for “Music,” starting in December 2023 with “Another Day” and “H00DBYAIR.” He continued with “Backr00MS” featuring Travis Scott and “Village 0rgan” in January 2024, followed by “Ketamin” and “All Red” in March and September, respectively. Both “H00DBYAIR” and “Evilj0rdan” are included on “Music,” albeit under different titles.

Last year, Rolling Loud Miami, he previewed five songs from “Music,” including “Crush,” “Cocaine Nose,” and “Sperial Lie,” the latter featuring The Weeknd.

The last release by Carti connected to “Music” was his feature on the remix for “Blick Sum” by Latto, which came out in January.
