Hayley Williams Hints at Solo Exhibitions
Paramore’s Hayley Williams has hinted at the possibility of a series of solo exhibitions in 2025, five years after she originally planned them.
Solo Albums and Concert Plans
The singer’s first solo studio album, Petals For Armor, was released in May 2020, and Williams had intended to play it live while touring the UK and Europe that month before plans had to be shelved due to the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
She has since released her second solo album, Flowers For Vases / Descansos, in 2021, but has yet to perform a solo concert in support of either release.
Now, in an Instagram Stories post on her 36th birthday, Williams suggested she might try to make amends in 2025, writing: “I’m going to try and finally play some shows next year that could happened almost 5 years ago. That is, if the world doesn’t stop before then.”
She also thanked fans for their birthday wishes, saying: “It feels so good to feel seen and celebrated.”
Reflecting on the past 12 months, she added: “The 35s wanted to plow the soil and plant little seeds. Waiting, waiting, waiting to see. 36 is already exciting and a little scary. So much to hope for. I’m still in the dirt, ready for whatever might come up. Fruits?”
Critical Acclaim for Albums
In a four-star review of Petals for Armor NME wrote: “The core message of Hayley Williams’ stunning solo album is this: Wear your flaws like shining armor and find strength in openness and vulnerability. This would be a prophetic message at any time, but in today’s uncertain environment, it seems even more important. We could all use a little kindness.”
The 2021 sequel also received four stars: NME noting, “Perhaps partly because of the way it was created, Flowers for Vases/Descansos is less prickly and abrasive than her debut solo album. While that record recalled the intricacies of Thom Yorke and Warpaint and burned with simmering anger, this record comes from a softer, more open place with Williams’ voice as the centerpiece.”
“As if pulling up dirty handfuls of dead weeds to make room for living things to flourish, Flowers for Vases/Descansos rake up the trash and leave Hayley Williams exposed. Sowing new seeds is an approach that bears fruit.”
Elsewhere, Williams recently responded to Dochi by citing Paramore as an influence, saying the “Denial Is A River” rapper “better win every Grammy.”
Last month, she also appeared at a Cyndi Lauper concert in Nashville to perform “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.”
