Harry Styles at the Vatican
This week, Harry Styles was spotted among the crowd in Vatican City to witness the election of a new pope.
Viral Moments from St. Peter’s Square
In a photo that went viral online, the former One Direction star appeared to be amidst thousands of attendees in St. Peter’s Square on Thursday (May 8) during the presentation of Pope Leo XIV as the successor to the late Pope Francis.
The image shows Styles donning sunglasses and a gray baseball cap with the slogan: “Techno is my boyfriend.” His presence at this historical event was later confirmed by Hollywood Reporter.

Harry Styles is so random. One moment he’s at the Grammys, and then he’s passing a marathon in Japan, but now he’s in Rome, waiting for the new pope announcement. I love being his fan. pic.twitter.com/firlofvufj

I love Harry Styles for being so carefree. One of the most famous people on the planet and he simply does what he wants, like going to watch the pope. pic.twitter.com/js2trydd3s

I can’t believe the new pope was honored to be in the same place as Harry Styles and didn’t even recognize him. Wow, glory really went to his head. pic.twitter.com/i6vnemoaa3

This comes after reports regarding the actual cardinals who elected the new pontiff in a Conclave serving as a framework for understanding the complexities of this selection process. Religious experts have praised the film’s accuracy in dramatizing the pope’s election.
In a four-star review of Conclave, James Mottram wrote for NME: “While Conclave isn’t a hard-hitting examination of an institution surrounded by scandals in this century, including sexual abuse cover-ups, it does acknowledge that the church has much to modernize. The result is a film that operates as both a finely crafted thriller and a meditation on the role of the church in modern society — more credible than similar films like Two Popes (2019) and We Have a Pope (2011), Conclave is the perfect winter watch.”
As for Harry Styles, he impressed fans in March by completing the Tokyo Marathon with a time of 3:24:07.
In February, Chloe Fineman mentioned that the singer was “devastated” by his performance during their writing sessions for the 2019 episode of Saturday Night Live: “I was at the table and he was so down, saying how terrible it was,” she shared.
