Artist’s Insight

In her reflections on the EP, Hannakhbell shares, “Parasite” explores the darker and uncomfortable facets of the human experience—those unpleasant emotions and thoughts we often try to hide. This EP delves into the depths of depression, anxiety, eating disorders, grief, loneliness, and love, providing an honest space for these feelings to be expressed and encountered.

“It is crucial to honor how we feel and react as individuals since we must educate ourselves. You’re always with yourself, so why not strive to understand and study to become the best version of you? I enjoy playing with perspective and structure because, regardless of how simple things appear, our thoughts and emotions often aren’t recognized! This journey is never straightforward.

“Throughout the intensity of each track, there is an underlying thread of stability and hope—the belief that things can improve! With “Parasite,” I aimed to create something beautiful yet intentionally chaotic, sonically mirroring the internal struggle to find clarity within the chaos. I worked with incredibly talented individuals, transforming this “parasite” into not only a personal journey but a collective experience.

“This EP does not shy away from the ugly; instead, it embraces it, healing and cleansing in its unique way. I hope that listeners will discover a part of themselves in it, envision their own parasites, and feel a bit less isolated, haha!”
